THE LORD'S SUPPER

 

Scripture Reading: John 6:22-71.

Memory Verse: John 6:54.

 

1. Where did Yahshua go after feeding the five thousand? John 6:24, 25.

2. Why were the multitudes seeking Him? John 6:26

3. What did Yahshua tell them about food? From where did He say this food would be obtained? John 6:27

4. Does it appear that the multitude thought they had this bread from heaven? How did Yahshua reply? John 6:31-35.

5. How did the Jews respond to this statement which Yahshua made? John 6:42.

6. How did Yahshua reply to their murmurings? John 6:48-51, 53-58.

7. When Yahshua introduced the Lord's Supper, what did He say the unleavened bread represented? Luke 22:19; Matthew 26:26. Compare with John 6:51, 53.

 

Note: While Yahshua and His disciples were eating the Passover, Yahshua took bread, blessed it and said, take, eat, this is My Body. This unleavened bread represented His Body. The eating of the Passover Lamb was now forever in the past. The O.T. Passover had become history; Yahshua was introducing the Lord's Supper.

 

8. After partaking of the unleavened bread, what did Yahshua do? Luke 22:20; Matthew 26:27.

9. What did Yahshua say that the drink which was in the cup represented? Matthew 26:28; Luke 22:20. Compare with John 6:53, 54.

10. What did the cup which Yahshua gave to His disciples contain? Mark 14:25; Matthew 26:29.

 

Note: The Gospels of Mark, Luke and John, tell us that the cup which Yahshua blessed contained the fruit of the vine. This was the pure blood of the grape, which represents the precious Blood of Yahshua. See Deuteronomy 32:14, last part.

 

11. Is it a scriptural term to use the word Communion when referring to the Lord's Supper? 1 Corinthians 10:16.

12. Was Judas present and did he partake of the Lord's Supper? Luke 22:21; John 13:18.

THE LEAVEN OF THE PHARISEES

Note: The signs and wonders that our Savior did, did not appeal to their carnal mind. They wanted something spectacular, something to exhibit the natural man. Yahshua could not satisfy them in this, but pointed them to the sign of Jonah [also in Matthew 12:40.]

THE MESSAGE OF RECONCILIATION

Note: Many find it hard to live the Messiah-life. The reason is, though they have been reconciled and have their sins forgiven, their minds are not wholly transformed to things spiritual. Love for the world's fads and fashions still have a hold on them.

5. What is the gift of Elohim? Romans 6:23 (last part).

6. What must we do after we are reconciled to Elohim? Romans 12:1.

THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE

 

Scripture reading: Isaiah 59:1-16.

Memory verse: Isaiah 53:6

 

1. What condition prevailed before Messiah came similar to those of today? Isaiah 59:2,3

2. Was there any intercessor? Verse 16.

3. Could true and justice be found in that time? Verses 14, 15.

 

Note: Truth and justice are very closely related, for there is no justice without truth, and truth can never be put down.

 

4. Was the situation remedied, and by whom? Verse 16, last part, and verse 17.

5. What were some of the things for which the Father sent the Messiah into the world? Isa. 61: 1, 2.

6. When the Messiah came did He speak of Himself? John 8:17, 18.

7. Who gave special witnesses that He was the Son of Elohim? Matt. 3:16, 17.

 

Note: Some say that He was not the Son of Elohim, but in making this claim they deny the Father because He spoke from heaven saying: “This is My beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased.” Matt. 3:17.

 

8. Before He came into the world was the truth hidden, or at least not discerned? Matt. 13: 34, 35; 1 Cor 2:7, 8.

9. What special promise is given to the Remnant people? John 8:31, 32.

 

Note: The Saviour healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, and opened their understanding, forgave their sins, comforting their hearts by the words of the Gospel, He was indeed the Word made flesh and the light of the world.

THE FORMER RAIN

THE IMPORTANCE OF DAILY PRAYER

POWER OF HEAVEN OBTAINED BY PRAYER

1. How does the Psalmist address the Heavenly Father? Psalms 65:2.

Note: The darkness of the evil one encloses those who neglect to pray. The whispers of the enemy entice them to sin; it is all because they do not use the privilege given them in the divine appointment of prayer.

 

6. What example did Yahshua give concerning prayer? Mark 1:35; Luke 22:44; Hebrews 5:7.

 

Note: Yahshua, Elohim’s only begotten Son, found comfort in communion with the Heavenly Father. He knew the value and need of prayer. How much more we need this help. For without Him we can do nothing.

 

7. Was Yahshua sure that the Heavenly Father always heard His prayer? John 11:41-42.

8. Must we have the same assurance? Matthew 6:7, 8; James 5:17, 18.

THE GOSPEL COMMISSION

Note: Those seeking these gifts should often read the miracles of the New Testament, and believe the promise - that they will be done again.

 

8. Are we commanded to covet the gifts of the Spirit? 1 Cor. 12:31; 14:1.

9. What are the gifts of the Spirit? 1 Cor. 12:8-10.

10. Is the Heavenly Father willing to give these good things (gifts of the Spirit) to those who seek for them earnestly? Matt. 7:7-11.

PROPHECIES CONCERNING JERUSALEM

 

Scripture Reading: Ezra 7.

1. When the angel Gabriel visited Daniel in Babylon, what was his chief purpose and message? Daniel 9:24 and the first part of verse 25.

9. What decree did Artaxerxes make concerning providing money for this great work? Ezra 7:21.

10. According to the date at the top of the page of your Bible, what year did this decree of Artaxerxes's go forth? (Many Bibles have these marginal dates and all give the date of 457 B.C.).

11. How long after this decree, was reconciliation made for iniquity? Daniel 9:24; Matthew 26:6-13.

 

Note: From the date at the top of the page in your Bible you will see that the crucifixion date is given as 33 A.D. Adding to this number of years B.C. 457 (Ezra 7) when the commandment went forth and money was appropriated for the rebuilding of the Temple, it makes just 490 days or 70 weeks. The main outline of the prophecy was wonderfully fulfilled. The Messiah came; He was cut off; reconciliation was made for sin; the Holy One, the Messiah, was anointed; the prince (Titus the Roman) that followed after, destroyed the city; and desolation came upon the Holy Land. The announcements made by Gabriel to Daniel have come to pass exactly. Now we are in the time of the final restoration of Israel to their Promised Land, which gives us the setting for the prophesied coming of the Messiah as King.

HEAVEN’S PENDING JUDGEMENT

 

Scripture Reading: Revelation 15th Chapter

Memory Verse: Revelation 15:2

 

1. By whom does this wrath to be poured upon the earth?  Rev. 15:1;16:1.

2. Before this judgment is poured upon the wicked, what worldwide message goes forth? Rev. 14:9,10

 

Note: The heavenly Father has always warned people before bringing judgment upon them. It is His loving desire that people live happily and in obedience to His will. He warned Sodom and Gomorrah, before they were overthrown; He warned Tyre and Sidon; He warned Nineveh and Babylon.

 

3. What did the voice out of the temple in heaven say to the seven angels, and upon whom do the plagues fall? Rev. 16:1,2.

4. What is the nature of each plague? Rev.16:3-14.

 

Note: The place called “Armageddon” is in the valley of Jezreel, about fifty miles North West of Jerusalem.

 

5. Who wins in this battle and how? Rev 16:17-21

6. What is the general condition of the people of the whole earth when these judgments commence? Isa. 42:4,5;26:21;Matt. 24:37-39

 

Note: We are told that in the days of Noah, wickedness was great on the earth and that “every imagination of the thoughts of men’s heart’s was only evil continually-.” Gen 6:5

7. Will the righteous people suffer from these plagues, Psalms 91:3-11

8. Did the plagues which fall upon Egypt fall upon the Israelites? Ex. 8:22; 9:6, 26; 10:23; 11:7.

 

Note. The cause of these plagues upon Egypt was their treatment of Israel, and because Pharaoh would not let the people go.

 

9. Where did John see those that had gotten the victory over the beast and over his name? Rev. 15:2, 3

 

Note: There are many different opinions as to where this sea of glass is, that is a place  of refuge, where the plagues are not going to fall.

 

10. When the angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters, what did the angel of waters say?  Rev. 16:5-7

11. When the last plague fall what will one class of the people of the earth do? Rev 16:21.

12. How were the events that happened to the children of Israel associated with that  will take place in the end of this age?

THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF JESUS

Note: We see that as soon as the devil is loosed out of his prison that he commences his deceptive work upon the nations. These are the people which were left when Yahshua came (Zec. 14:16,17), who have lived and multiplied during the thousand years. (Isa. 65:20-25). Some have failed to obey the Lord (Zec. 14:17-19), therefore the devil is loosed to deceive them, that they might all be destroyed.

 

14. What happens to the devil at this time? Rev. 20:10.

15. What happens when all enemies are destroyed? 1 Corinthians 15:24,25.

16. Will the sea still be in existence when Yahshua reigns? Psalms 72:8.

17. Will there be any more sea once the reign of Messiah is completed and He gives the reign over to the Father, and the City of Elohim comes down? Revelation 21:1-4.

THE MIRACLE OF CONVERSION

Note. This is just what Elohim sees of man in his natural condition. A heart like the above cannot do good. If there is to be a change then a miracle must be performed.

SHEPHERDS OF THE FLOCK

NECESSITY FOR THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Scripture reading: 1 Cor. 12

1. Is it the will of Elohim that His church should know about the special gifts of the Holy Spirit? 1 Cor 12:1.

2. What is said about the diversities of gifts, and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit? Verse 6, 7.

Note. The manifestation of the Holy Spirit is given to profit withal, and the fact that Elohim never changes in his manner or dealing with individuals proves that this same power, which operated then in these diversities of gifts, is still being manifested among the children of Elohim.

 

4. What are the first gifts of the Holy Spirit in order that one should acquire them? Verse 8.

5. What is the third gift of the Holy Spirit in its order of special need, which wisdom and knowledge of the Word assists us in acquiring? First part of verse 9; Rom. 10:17

 

Note. It will be observed that faith is one of the special gifts of the Spirit which comes as a consequence of the two preceding gifts of wisdom and knowledge. The Lord gives instruction also to study (2 Tim. 2:15), but unless the Holy Spirit is sought and obtained for this work, it will result largely in mechanical instead of spiritual development. The things of Elohim are spiritually discerned: therefore, we noted the gifts of the Holy Spirit to properly understand and receive the correct interpretation of the scriptures.

THE NECESSITY OF THE GIFT OF MIRACLES

Scripture reading: Acts 8:5-25

1. What is one of the primary purposes of miracles? Ex. 4:5; 19:3-4;  Num. 16:28 ; John 2:23.

Note.  A miracle is a wonderful thing; an event or effect contrary to the established laws or constitution of nature. Elohim is the Creator of nature and its laws; therefore Elohim also is able to create miracles which are contrary to these laws. By the above questions we have learned that miracles are wrought to edify the creator.

PERILOUS TIMES

THE REMNANT PEOPLE TRIUMPHANT

Note. Our Saviour rebuked the self-righteous “better than thou spirit” (Luke 18:9-14) in the Pharisee who trusted in himself and despised others. This attitude is a manifestation of the flesh. The Saviour tells us to “judge not and to condemn not” but to pray for the erring ones, and to even love our enemies, and to do good to them that despitefully use us. Luke 6:28, 37.

Note. — Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It is faith that leads us to the Lord. Some are waiting on feelings or emotions; when we accept Yahshuah, we know that we are sinners and that Yahshuah is our Saviour. We talk to Him in prayer about our lost condition, we confess and repent, and He gives us the witness in our souls that we are forgiven, and that He takes His abode in our lives and makes all things new, Praise Him!

SCRIPTURAL PROOF THAT MESSIAH IS THE SON OF ELOHIM

Scripture reading: 1 Cor. 15:1-9; John 5:38-47.

Note. There were over 250 text of Old Testament scripture fulfilled in the events of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Yahshuah the Messiah. Besides His great miraculous power in healing the sick and raising the dead, Yahshuah fulfilled all the prophecies concerning the promised Jewish Messiah.

 

1. What part of the scriptures is referred to in John 5:38?

2. Did Paul declare that our Saviour came according to the Old Testament? 1 Cor. 15:3,4

3. Was the Messiah, for whom the Jews look today, to come as a mighty ruler, or was He to come as a child? Isa. 7:14, 16; 9:6,7; 11:1.

 

Note. The sign was that a virgin would conceive and bring forth this child, and also that the land would be deprived of both kings before he would be old enough to know good and evil. Herod died (Matt. 2:14, 15) and Archelaus reigned in his place and was also deposed, before the Messiah child was six years of age according to all historical accounts.

 

4. Where was He to be born? Micah 5:2; Matt. 2:1-5.

5. Was Messiah Yahshuah to be cut off and slain, or was he to restore the kingdom? Dan. 9:26 (first part).

6. What was to happen to Jerusalem after He was cut off? Was the land to be desolate? Dan. 9:26(last part.)

 

Note. If the first coming of the Messiah is yet future, then Jerusalem is to be destroyed again and the Holy Land to become desolated. The fact that the desolation of Jerusalem has already happened (when the Roman General Titus destroyed the city in 70 A.D) means that, according to prophecy, the Messiah has already come.

 

7. The Messiah was to be numbered with the transgressors and buried with the rich. Was this fulfilled in Messiah’s death? Mark 15:27, 28; Matt. 27:57-60.

8. What is still another prophecy, fulfilled in His crucifixion? Matt. 27:34-36. Compare with Psalms 22:17, 18.

THE FALL OF MAN

Note. The first Commandment broken was the first sin. And the Lord Elohim commanded the man saying: of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest therefore thou shalt die.

 

3. What became the extent and depravity of sinful man? Eph 2:3; Ps. 51:5; Job 25:4-6.

4. Did the fall of man cause the entire universe to be depraved? Rom 3:9-12; 1 John 5:19; Isa 64:6.

 

5. How was sin discovered by the law? Rom 2:12-15; John 8:9;15:22.

Note. The punishment of sin is death. “For the wages of sin is death.” Death has passed upon every individual as the ultimate end for sins committed.

8. The fallen man’s understanding

· becomes darkened (Rom. 1:28),

· his conscience is seared ( 1 Tim. 4:2, Titus 1:15);

· he will be  in constant fear ( Job 18:11-15).

 

Note.  All these calamity comes from the transgression of the Commandments of Elohim. Elohim cannot change his Word. He said the day thou eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil thou shalt surely die. -- Isa 43:27, 28.

SIN AND THE REMEDY

Scripture reading: Exodus 20:1-21

Memory verse: James 2:10, 11

 

1. What is sin declared to be? James 2:10, 11.

2. How were the sins of the people pardoned in ancient time? Lev. 5:14,15, 7:11, 37, 38.

Note. The penalty for breaking any one of the Ten Commandments during the Old Testament period was death by stoning. It was not only for Sabbath breaking, but for each one of the commandments. Lev. 24:13-17.

3. In case a person was too poor to afford a lamb, what was substitute? Lev. 5:7.

4. Why were these innocent lambs slain? To what did this atonement point? John 1:29-34; 1 Peter 1:19.

5. Was it the Ten Commandment Law that was abolished or was it this old system of pardon that ended? Heb. 10:3-12.

 

Note. When we read of the sufferings of our Saviour on the cross and behold the agony of His crucifixion, we should be impressed in the same way that the children of Israel were when they looked upon the killing of those innocent lambs. It should teach us the horrible consequence of disobeying the Great and the Mighty One who made the world and created us in his own likeness. We should be made to fully understand that the breaking of this law brought about the death of our beloved Lamb and Saviour on the cross, just the same as sin brought the death of those animals back then.

6. How was the long promised Messiah and Saviour to come into the world? Isaiah 7:14.

7. Was He to be offered as a Lamb for the sins of the people? Isaiah 53:7, 8.

 

Note. The reason many of the Jewish people are still in the dark concerning the coming of the Messiah is  the entire 53rd chapter of Isaiah was omitted from their synagogue reading nearly two thousand years ago by their leaders. However, since the discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls (which contained the chapter). It is considered an authentic part of the Holy writings.

A SACRED ORDINANCE

Scripture Reading: Gen 2:18-25.

1. After the good Lord had created man and provided him with perfect surroundings, what did He feel was needed to complete his happiness? Genesis 2:18, and Verses 21-23.

 

Note: Elohim instituted the first marriage, Thus the institution has for its originator the Creator of the universe. It was one of the first gifts of Elohim to man, and it is one of the two institutions that after the fall, Adam brought with him beyond the gate of Paradise. When the Divine Principles are recognized and obeyed in this relationship, marriage is a blessing; it guards the purity and the happiness of the human race; provides for man’s social needs; and elevates the physical, the intellectual, and the moral nature.

 

2. For what purpose besides companionship was the first union ordained? Genesis 1:28.

3. Was the ordinance of marriage carried into the New Testament era? Matthew 19:4,5; Ephesians 5:31.

 

Note: The family tie is the closest, most sacred, and the most tender tie on earth. It was designed to be a blessing to mankind. It is a blessing indeed wherever the marriage covenant is entered into intelligently, in the fear of Elohim, and with due consideration for its responsibilities.

5. In what honor, therefore, should the marriage estate be held? Hebrews 13:4.

THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT

THE GOLDEN RULE

THE VICTORIOUS LIFE, THE HUMILITY OF THE SAVIOUR AND HIS CHILDREN

Note: “Converted and become” - There are some who are truly converted, and yet are not humble. Many believers are found in this category. One may appear to be humble until there is an issue involved that demands submission, then he rebels against authority; this often causes divisions.

6. How does Paul further interpret the meaning of the word “children”? 1 Corinthians 14:20.

7. What will the quality of “children in malice” lead us to do? Matthew 5:43-45.

8. If we are “children of malice”, what degree of perfection will we be lead to? Matthew 5:46-48.

FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER

Scripture Reading: Matt. 18.

Memory Verse: Matt. 6:15.

 

1. What is necessary for us to do in order to receive forgiveness of our sins? Mark 11:25.

2. Will Elohim pardon those who do not forgive their fellow men? Matt. 6:15; Mark 11:26, Matt. 18:21-22.

 

Note. Elohim is not satisfied with lip service or mere formality. We must forgive from the heart, and when we do then will also forget, and we will cease to dwell upon the sins which have been forgiven. Some when pretending to forgive say: “I can forgive but I cannot forget them”. They hold a grudge.

 

3. In what condition must our heart be in order that we might receive forgiveness? Matt. 6:12.

4. Did Elohim forbid grudging? Lev. 19:18.

5. What does the New Testament say about grudging? James 5:9; Matt. 6:12-24.

 

Note. — Jealousy is a predominant sin of the age, now even as it was in the time when Joseph’s brethren became jealous of him because of his parents love and extra kindness, and also because Elohim favored him and gave him dreams about things would soon come to pass; therefore they mistreated him and sold unto strangers for a slave.

THE VICTORIOUS LIFE

Note: Many say that perfection is too high a standard to reach, that it is impossible to attain. There are,  however, many examples in the Bible of people who lived according to the will of Elohim. In Messiah Yahshua all is possible. “I can do all things through Messiah which strengtheneth me,” was the testimony of one who walked with Elohim. Philippians 4:13. The victorious life comes as a result of constant resistance to the temptations of the devil. Messiah met every temptation with a Scriptural answer in His resistance to Satan in the wilderness. Following His example we should be guided by Biblical standards in our wresting against spiritual wickedness in high places.

 

1. What is expected of us in this wicked world? Titus 2:11,12

2. How is this possible? 1 Jhn 5:5-7.

3. What men stand out as great examples of the victorious life? Hebrews 11:5; Luke 1:5,6.

4. What step is necessary in our hearts? 1 Peter 3:15.

5. When we resist the devil, of what are we assured? James 4:7,8.

6. How often must our spiritual man be renewed?2 Corinthians 4:16.

YAHSHUAH, PETER,  AND FEET WASHING

Introduction: Every year in the Church of Elohim when we keep the Passover we wash one another's feet. Many churches do not do this. Why in the Church of Elohim do we wash our feet?

1. What did Yahshuah do immediately after He and the disciples had eaten the Passover lamb? John 13:4, 5.

2. What did Simon Peter think of Yahshuah washing his feet? v 6.

3. How did Yahshuah let Peter know there was something he did not understand about feet washing? v 7.

4. Did Peter accept Yahshuah's explanation? v 8ab.

5. Is the act of feet washing important? v 8cde.

 

Note: If we have no part in the Messiah, we have no salvation. If we don't participate in feet washing, we have no salvation.

 

 

6. When Peter understood how important feet’s washing is, what did he say? v 9.

7. How did Yahshuah correct Peter's enthusiasm? v 8.

8. What did Yahshuah mean when he said, "he that is washed?" v 10.

Answer: He that is already baptized. Feet’s washing is a reconfirmation of baptism.

9. What did Yahshuah ask after he had washed the disciples’ feet? v 12.

11. What does Yahshuah say that feet washing symbolizes and demonstrates? v 16, 17.

Answer: Equality.

Conclusion: By washing the disciples’ feet, Yahshuah shows that no man in his church is greater than any other.

Note. — In all buildings there must of necessity be a foundation and a place upon which it rests. In this building of Elohim we have Yahshua, the Apostles, and the prophets for the foundation, who are laid upon Elohim, the solid Rock.

7. What place do the followers of Messiah occupy in this building? 1 Peter 2:5; Eph. 2:22.

8. When this building is finished what is it then called? Eph. 2:21.

 

Note. — This building which represents the Church is the place where Elohim through His Holy Spirit dwells, John 17:21-23.

ARE THE PEOPLE RETURNING TO THE HOLY LAND REALLY JEWS?
